I love taking part in illustration challenges as they give a deadline and just enough constraints to move personal projects quickly. In 2021 I took part in Furry Little Peach's Peachtober, and loved some of the personal work that came out of it.

I had just gotten an iPad Pro so really wanted a chance to experiment with Procreate.

The prompt was "Rise" - This illustration reflects how I was feeling and what I was going through at the time. I was midway through a long term debilitating injury and often felt like my head was under water, struggling to just survive. But when I started to see some healing progress it felt like I was rising back up to the surface able to feel the sunshine breaking though the darkness.
